FAQs and Shop Policies

Do you do piercings?

Nope! We do not offer piercings or piercing jewelry at our shop. We choose to focus our efforts solely on tattooing, so as to provide the best possible experience and quality.

How old do I have to be to get tattooed?

In the state of Virginia, you must 18 years of age to get tattooed. We do not, and will never, tattoo anyone under the age of 18. Parental consent is not a factor for us, we simply refuse to tattoo minors.

Can I bring my child in the shop with me?

Nope! We do not allow ANYONE under the age of 18 in the shop at any point in time, for any amount of time.

What do I need in order to get tattooed?

You must have a valid photo ID. You must be 18 years of age or older. You cannot be pregnant or nursing. You must be completely sober. No drug or alcohol consumption are permitted in the shop ever, under any circumstances.

Can I bring food/drink with me?

We do allow food and drink in the shop. However, in the tattoo area we only allow closed container drinks and small snacks. Any meals must be eaten in the lobby. We do ask that you clean up after yourself after any meals eaten in the shop, and can provide you with cleaning materials if need be.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash AND card payments. We also have an ATM available in the shop. We do not accept tips on card payments.

What is your shop minimum?

Our shop minimum is $100.

How much will my tattoo cost?

Tattoos are priced based on size, detail, and location on the body. We offer hourly rates for large pieces. Our hourly rates differ from artist to artist, and range between $150/hour and $200/hour. We cannot price tattoos prior to having them drawn and sized appropriately.

Do you offer military discounts?

We do! For active duty service members we offer a 10% discount on the total cost of your tattoo. This does not apply to deposits or anything priced at shop minimum. Just have your military ID ready for us and we’d love to give you a discount. Thanks for your service!

What are your hours of operation?

Tuesday through Saturday, 12 - 8 pm.

How late can I get tattooed?

We take our last walk in tattoo around 7:45 pm based on artist availability.

Does my medical condition prevent me from getting tattooed?

That depends. When considering medical conditions and tattooing, please speak to your artist directly about their comfort level in tattooing you. Our artists do their best to stay current on tattooing procedures in relation to people with preexisting health conditions. Preexisting conditions such as diabetes, HIV status, taking blood thinners, etc do not automatically disqualify you from being tattooed by one of our artists. It helps our artists to be prepared with any prior conditions so your tattoo goes smoothly and heals well. We may want to tailor your aftercare specifically to your condition, so please give us a heads up if you’re concerned!

How do deposits work?

All deposits are completely nonrefundable. Deposits are placed with a specific artist, and cannot be transferred. Our deposit minimum is $100. Deposits can vary based on the artist you choose, as well as the size of the tattoo. The full $100+ deposit goes towards the final cost of your tattoo. If this is a multi-session piece, it goes towards the final session. Without a deposit, no appointment time or date will be scheduled with our artists. Deposits can be made on cash or card. No discounts are applied to deposits.

What’s the best way to book an appointment?

We have carefully built each artist’s online portfolio to include the best way to contact them, as well as their appointment information. Some of our artists do not currently take appointments, and some are available only by appointment. We keep their portfolio information up to date to make it easier for you to see all of their booking information and policies! Please check the portfolio of the specific artist you’re looking to book with to see the best way to contact them.

How do walk ins work?

Walks ins are based on artist availability. We have one full-time walk in artist on staff, and the rest of our artists take walk ins whenever possible. Please be patient with us, as sometimes our walk in wait can stack up quickly. The best way to ensure you get your walk in is to show up close to noon when we open. You may also call the shop to ask about availability. All walk ins are done on a first come, first served basis.

How do I know if I can do a walk in or if I need an appointment?

A good rule of thumb is to consider the size and intricacy of the tattoo you’re looking to get. An ideal walk in would generally be about palm sized or smaller, with relatively minimal details. We NEVER take realism or portraits as walk ins. Quarter or half sleeves and larger, as well as realism, are always appointments.
